Advanced Jazz Guitar
For Students who have completed "Improvisation for classical guitarists" and are ready to move on to more advanced concepts such as extended jazz chords and chord inversions, diving deeply into the melodic minor and diminished scales. Students choose the repertoire from jazz or afro-latin jazz standards.

Class Schedule
Week 1: Review of modes, harmonic minor scales, jazz chords, and arpeggios
Week 2: Brazilian comping rhythms
Week 3: The melodic minor scale and it's modes
Week 4: Extended jazz chords and extended jazz arpeggios (poly chords)
Week 5: The diminished scales and dominant seventh chord scale options
Week 6: Further concepts in the chromaticism and chord progressions: The Parallel Universe
Week 7: Jazz chord inversions
Week 8: Intervallic improvisation
Week 9: Arranging for guitar: inversions and arranging for trios
Week 10: Putting it all together
